Danz Hands
At Danz Hands, I gained valuable real-world experience working across a wide range of residential construction, repair, and custom woodworking projects. I developed practical skills in framing walls and ceilings, installing composite decking, building stair rails, and understanding structural integrity and building codes. These projects taught me how to adapt to real-world conditions, such as uneven surfaces, existing structures, and unexpected problems like damaged framing. I learned how to think critically on the job, ensuring everything remained level, square, and safe, even when the environment was less than ideal. This experience also helped me become more efficient and confident using tools in a fast-paced, on-site setting.
One of the most impactful aspects of this externship was the opportunity to work directly with clients and be involved in the design and planning process. Projects like the 13-foot gate, fold-out picture frame table, and violin display built-in challenged me to take an idea from concept to completion. I learned how to create sketches, estimate materials and costs, optimize cut lists, and anticipate installation challenges before they arose. These experiences strengthened my problem-solving skills and taught me how to balance aesthetics, function, and structural requirements. More importantly, I developed stronger communication, time management, and professionalism, which are essential for working with clients and delivering high-quality results in the real world.
